The New Lok8u GPS Child Locator vs. the Old Child Locator

Longer Battery Life:
Our new-and-improved model has a larger antenna embedded in the locator's wristband originally, in the older Child Locator models offered by other retailers have shorter antennae that are contained in their casings.

Better Network Coverage:
Previously, the old Child Locator model had spotty network coverage in certain geographical areas and as a result of patchy network coverage, the old Child Locator had shorter battery life because the device would consume more battery power as a result of trying to maintain network connectivity.* The new Lok8u GPS Child Locator model features improved network coverage; it has a multi-network SIM card that swaps from AT&T to T-Mobile and their network partners.

Battery Life and Low Battery Alerts:

24-48 hours of battery life in stand-by mode (this however may vary according to network coverage areas; some geographical locations have spotty network coverage and weaker signals; in these areas, the Lok8u GPS Child Locator will consume more of its battery life because of the effort spent trying to locate a GPS signal).

Low battery alert when 25% of battery life is left; you will receive a "low battery" email/text message and you will see the locate icon go from green to orange on your web-portal account.. The Lok8u GPS Child Locator takes only 50-60 minutes to charge fully, (charges are indicated by the cradle's light display changing from orange to green).

How the Lok8u GPS Child Locator Works...
The first data to be transmitted is the cell ID location (cell tower triangulation) data and this is what you will see if your child happens to be indoors (for GPS to work, the device must have a clear line of vision with the sky). GPS devices normally require a clear view of the sky to receive location information from the GPS satellite network. Some devices can use AGPS, or Assisted GPS, to calculate their position based on cellular triangulation. Though not as accurate as true GPS, AGPS will provide a general location while a device is indoors.

Please Note: The Lok8u GPS Child Locator is not a Real-Time GPS tracker, it is a GPS child locator. This means that you will not be able to look at "tracking history" data once you leave the web portal. For instance, you will not be able to pull up history since the Lok8u GPS Child Locator relies on "breadcrumb navigation," which keeps track of the positions of your child at any specified time and presents them on the map for that specific log-in. Once you end your session by logging out, you will no longer be able to pull up that specific history.

When you log into your web-portal account, you will be able to customize certain features to best fit your and your child's needs. You can set device on standby or live track mode, and can even choose the devices GPS update rate (2 min, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min or 30 min intervals)

*Please note: Customers can use this product in selected countries outside of the United States; you have two options: the first, is a continuous service plan and the second is a one-time 30-day "Vacation" plan. The "Vacation" plan gives you peace of mind when taking your family abroad.
