It is capable of hosting numerous virtual machines along with recording videos from up to 80 IP cameras. For image or analytical jobs, an available PCIe Gen.3 x16 slot supports AMD Radeon graphics cards. The 16-Bay NAS Enclosure streams the data to your network by utilizing four 10GbE ports as well as two Gigabit Ethernet ports. The ports offer redundancy and link-aggregation support to help ensure data is always available.
The 16 bays are compatible with SAS- and SATA-based hard drives in the sizes of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch. You can populate these bays with optional enterprise-class or surveillance drives to fit your needs. To improve the delivery of data, the QNAP TDS-16489U also comes with four additional 2.5" bays that are well suited for 2.5" SAS/SATA SSDs, which can be used for caching since they provide faster reads and writes than a typical drive. Once drives are installed, you can configure them in a RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, or 10 modes to prevent the loss of data and improve the drive's performance.
