Hidden Cameras Help Expose Child Abuse

As more and more parents choose to work full-time, nannies have become more commonplace. Hiring a nanny has its advantages, but also raises safety concerns. For parents, leaving their babies and young children with a complete stranger can be a difficult thing. In successfully situations, the nannies become a trusted member of the family. Less frequently, nannies have been involved in theft, neglect, and in some extreme cases, child abuse. By installing a hidden nanny camera, parents are able to find out how the nanny is really interacting with the children when the parents aren't around.

A New York City Police Department spokesperson said, “We’ve had over two dozen arrests over the past three months of nannies and caregivers caught on tape by hidden cameras abusing children.”

“Luckily none of them were serious,” added the spokesperson.
